Helping Landlords
At EGi Energy, we help landlords improve their properties by raise EPC ratings and cut the running costs they carry, especially where electricity is included in the rent. Whether you manage social housing, supported living accommodation, private rentals, or HMOs, we design practical upgrades that make homes warmer and more efficient for tenants while protecting your margins.
When you include electricity in the rent, every price rise and every unit your tenants use comes straight off your bottom line. We reduce that cost in three complementary ways: generating your own power with solar PV and battery storage, taking control of your supply with landlord meters, and cutting heat loss with loft insulation, each of which also lifts your EPC rating and helps future-proof your properties against tightening regulation.
How We Help You Save
Solar PV & Battery Storage
Solar panels generate electricity during the day, and a battery stores the surplus for use in the evenings and early mornings when tenants are home. A battery also works hand-in-hand with a two-rate (time-of-use) tariff: it charges from the grid overnight at the cheap off-peak rate and powers the property through the expensive peak hours, so you buy far less electricity at the daytime rate, a saving that holds up even in winter when solar output is lower. On a bills-included property, all of this is power you generate yourself or buy at the cheapest rate rather than the peak one, directly lowering the bill you pay. Paired with a landlord supply, a single system can offset consumption across a whole building, and surplus power can earn income through the Smart Export Guarantee.
Landlord Meters
Introducing a landlord supply or metering setup gives you visibility and control over the electricity your properties use. It allows a solar system to serve the whole building rather than a single flat, can reduce the multiple standing charges that come with separate meters, and gives you a clear picture of consumption across your portfolio, the foundation for managing cost on any bills-included let.
Loft Insulation
Much of a property’s heat is lost through an uninsulated or under-insulated loft. Topping up or installing loft insulation reduces heating demand, keeps tenants warmer for less, and delivers one of the most cost-effective improvements to a property’s EPC rating.
Together these measures raise EPC ratings, lower the energy costs you carry, and add long-term value to your housing stock.
All installations are carried out by TrustMark-registered companies and come with full warranty coverage and guarantees.
Property Assessment
Check to see if your property qualifies for a ECO4 Grant, just enter your property postcode and select your address from the list for a quick assessment.
Landlord Solutions
Whether you manage social housing, supported living accommodation, private rentals, or HMOs, our tailored services help your properties meet current standards, deliver long-term savings, and create warmer, more efficient homes for tenants.
We work with housing associations and supported living providers, to deliver energy improvements across their portfolios, by raising EPC ratings, meeting regulatory targets, and reducing the running costs of communal and landlord-supplied energy.
We help HMO landlords, who typically pay the electricity bill themselves, take control of that cost with solar PV, battery storage, and landlord metering, alongside insulation improvements that raise your EPC rating and keep bills down.
We help private landlords upgrade rental properties, improve tenant satisfaction, meet EPC requirements, and cut the electricity costs they carry on inclusive tenancies, through solar, storage, metering, and insulation.
