Commercial Solar Panels & Battery Storage

Commercial Solar — Zero Capital Outlay

with Smart Ease Finance

At EGi Energy, we help commercial businesses and landlords reduce their electricity bills by 40-70%, through a bespoke Solar PV & Battery system combined with time-of-use tariff. Whether you’re a warehouse, office, retail park, farm or housing portfolio, we design solutions that deliver long-term savings and protect you from rising energy prices.

Could your site be cash-flow positive from day one?

The Cash-Flow example shows how a typical commercial site moves from a £48,000 annual electricity bill to a net positive monthly cash flow, with no upfront investment. Your figures will depend on your roof, your tariff and your usage profile, which is exactly what our free assessment is designed to establish.

Smart Ease Finance can provide net positive cash-flow for businesses with annual electricity spend of £25,000 or more from day one. While smaller sites might be better suited to outright purchase, our free assessment will tell you which route makes commercial sense for you.

On most commercial sites, Solar PV alone delivers 70-80% of the available savings. Adding battery storage and time-of-use tariff optimisation captures the remaining 20-30%.

How commercial solar can be funded

The right funding route depends on your cash position, your tax strategy and your appetite for capital expenditure. We work with all four common routes and provide options that suits your business, not the one that suits us.

Smart Ease Finance — Zero Capital Outlay

A hire-purchase agreement covering the cost of the installation. Smart Ease pays EGi Energy directly, and you pay a fixed monthly amount over a 5–10 year term. VAT is fully recoverable. At the end of the term you own the system outright. This option is usually best suited to businesses that want to preserve working capital and start saving immediately.

Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)

A third-party investor funds, owns and maintains the system. You buy the electricity it generates at a discounted rate, typically 18–25% below grid prices, for the agreed term (usually 15–25 years). No capital, no maintenance liability, but no asset ownership. This option is best suited to large multi-site portfolios and public-sector estates.

Green Loans & Corporate Finance

A growing number of high-street and challenger banks now offer dedicated green-energy loans at competitive rates. We can introduce you to lenders we’ve worked with and help structure the application. This option is best suited to businesses that want to own the asset but spread the capital cost.

Capital Allowances

Claim the full cost of your solar installation against taxable profits, using the Annual Investment Allowance (AIA). This allows many businesses to reduce the effective cost of a system by 19–25%, depending on your corporation tax rate, making solar an even more attractive investment.

The benefits

Cash-flow positive from month one — System sized so projected savings exceed your monthly payment.

Hedge against price rises — Lock in stable monthly costs while grid prices remain volatile.

Lower grid reliance — Generate and use your own clean power on site, reducing exposure to wholesale markets.

Reduced carbon footprint — Cut Scope 2 emissions and strengthen your ESG and SECR reporting.

How It Works

A simple, four-step process:

We start by understanding your business, your energy usage and your goals. Our team will assess your property, review your electricity bills and consumption patterns, and explore funding options to find the most cost-effective route. We’ll tell you upfront whether solar is right for your site, no obligation, no pressure.

Using the latest technology and our knowledge of commercial energy systems, we create a bespoke Solar PV & Battery solution tailored to your site and consumption profile. We match solar array size to your daytime base load for maximum self-consumption, and size the battery to cover peak demand periods. The design phase ensures your system delivers the best return on investment, long-term energy security and measurable savings.

If you use Smart Ease Finance, they pay EGi Energy to do the install. You pay a predictable monthly amount, designed to be lower than your projected solar savings.

All work is carried out by our MCS-certified, TrustMark-registered installation teams. We manage the full process from start to finish, coordinating with your operations to minimise disruption. Our PAS 2030 compliance means every installation meets the highest energy efficiency standards, and our CHAS accreditation ensures robust health and safety practices throughout.

Once your system is complete, we provide full warranties, compliance documentation and guidance on monitoring your performance, and we don’t disappear after the install. We stay with you for ongoing monitoring, maintenance and support, to make sure your system keeps delivering year after year. That’s what we mean by long-term partnership.

Who We Build Solar For

We design Solar PV and Battery Storage systems for businesses with significant daytime electricity demand and the roof space to support it. Most of our commercial work falls into one of these sectors:

Care Homes — Continuous daytime load makes care homes ideal candidates for high-self-consumption systems with battery backup for resilience.

Farms & Agriculture — Dairy parlours, grain stores and packing operations all benefit from on-site generation, and SFI/Countryside Stewardship grants may further improve the case.

Manufacturers — Heavy machinery, compressed air, and process loads align perfectly with solar generation profiles.

Warehouses & Logistics — Large flat roofs with low structural complications and predictable lighting/refrigeration demand.

Schools & Education — Term-time daytime usage matches solar generation closely; ESG and curriculum benefits add non-financial value.

Multi-Site Operations — Retail chains, housing portfolios and franchise operators benefit from a coordinated rollout across sites.
