ECO4 Grant Scheme
At EGi Energy, we specialise in helping homeowners, landlords and tenants access fully funded energy-efficiency improvements through the ECO4 grant scheme. This page explains what ECO4 is, who qualifies, and the benefits it offers.
What is the ECO4 Grant Scheme?
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) is a government-backed scheme designed to help households across the UK reduce energy use, lower bills and cut carbon emissions. Running until March 2026, ECO4 provides funding for energy-efficiency improvements such as:
Loft and cavity wall insulation
Solid wall insulation
Air-source heat pumps
Solar panels (PV systems)
Upgrades to inefficient heating systems
Other home energy improvements to raise EPC ratings
The scheme is part of the UK’s commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050, while also tackling fuel poverty and making homes warmer and more affordable to run.
How does the ECO4 Grant Scheme work?
The Government Department for Energy Security and Net Zero set ECO4 policy and legislation.

It is administer by Ofgem, and Funded by the Major Energy Suppliers.

The quality assurance of retrofits (work), to both technical and consumer protection standards, is overseen by TrustMark.

Our Process
Desktop Assessment
We begin with a desktop assessment of your property to check eligibility for ECO4 funding and identify potential improvements before a site visit.
Pre Property Assessment
A pre-property assessment is carried out to gather key information on the building, its current energy performance, and suitability for upgrades.
Application Process
The homeowner or tenants complete a simple application to confirm eligibility for ECO4 funding. Our team supports them through the process to make it quick and stress-free.
Retrofit Assessment
A qualified assessor visits the property to carry out a full retrofit assessment, identifying the most effective measures to boost energy efficiency and EPC ratings.
Energy Efficiency Design
Based on the retrofit assessment, we design a tailored package of improvements that meet ECO4 requirements and deliver maximum benefits for the property.
Schedule of Works
A clear schedule of works is created, detailing the measures to be installed, timelines, and access arrangements to minimise disruption for tenants.
Work Completed
Our accredited installers complete the agreed upgrades to the highest standards, ensuring full compliance with ECO4 and industry regulations.
Post Property Assessment
A follow-up inspection is carried out to confirm all improvements have been installed correctly and the property meets the targeted energy performance standards. A new EPC will also be arranged to demonstrate the upgraded rating.
Handover Documents Provided
Once the project is complete, we provide full handover documents, including warranties, certificates, and compliance paperwork for your records.
